13 Feet Off the Ground, an all-female art collective based in Vancouver, has been invited to participate in a 4 week residency in Graniti, Sicily. We will be painting contemporay murals on their ancient town walls! Our aim is to create a cultural exchange of ideas and to provide Graniti with art-based locations for local gatherings and festivities.

Personal Places and Imagined Spaces: Vancouver artist, Deborah Bakos will lead you through 5 stages she follows to build her acrylic landscapes. Using palette knives instead of brushes, she will show you the natural transition into abstraction that these tools provide. Mediums can be tricky, so Deborah will also share some simple but important techniques for using modelling paste and acrylic pouring medium. Along the way, she will highlight some practices for setting mood and for developing your abstract compositions.
